Most people do not realize it, but the right foods can be just as powerful as many drugs that you can take into your body. It is also reasonable that this should be the way it is because our bodies have gone through millions of years of evolution adjusting perfectly to the foods that are readily available to us. The body has two main types of cholesterol in it. One is LDL bad Cholesterol, and the other is HDL good Cholesterol. Red wine has a tendency to increase your HDL good Cholesterol which is a wonderful thing to do. Red wine also contains two anti-oxidants which help fight heart disease by protecting the artery walls. They are Resveratrol and catechins. Remember, if you drink it’s a maximum of two drinks for a man, and one drink for a woman.

| Super Food # 2 – Salmon |

Salmon is God’s gift from the sea. You want to eat two servings each week. If you can’t find salmon on sale, than just about any other oily fish will do just fine. Salmon is full of mega-3s EPA and DHA which will do wonders for your health, and it lowers your blood triglycerides and will reduce inflammation. |

| Super Food # 3 – Kosher Salt |

Kosher Salt is a wonder food because it allows you to enjoy all the wonderful taste of salt but half the sodium of table salt. This is because it has large crystals. Keep in mind that you’d better be extra careful with the measurement, because it doesn’t take more than a teaspoonful to equal 1,120 milligrams of sodium. If you have hypertension which is high blood pressure, you are only allowed 1,500 milligrams per day. |

| Super Food # 4 – Tofu |

What you can try doing is substituting tofu for red meat in your cooking. By doing this you get rid of all the saturated fat in red meat that will clog your heart arteries. At the same time, you get all the fiber, minerals, and polyunsaturated fats from soy. You can’t beat Tofu as a heart healthy super food. At the same time, it doesn’t taste anything like steak. Be sure to put it into any soups you make to get all the protein you could ever want, and there’s no fat. |

| Super Food # 4 – Low Fat Yogurt |

If high blood pressure is a problem for you that low-fat yogurt is the answer. It will help you control it, and it’s great for bone health. Would you believe that yogurt has more than twice the amount of both calcium and potassium as you find in milk without the negatives? If you want to maximize the calcium and cut down drastically on fat, make sure you eat the low- fat or the non-fat types. |

| Super Food # 5 – Flaxseed |

Flaxseed is one of those foods that very few people know about. There are 3 separate chemicals in flaxseed that are just fabulous for your health. They are ALA , which is found in plants. It is an omega-3 fatty acid. Your system goes on to convert ALA into what you know as omega-3s, EPA and DHA. Flaxseed also contain fiber, and phytochemicals, which are called lignans. What you should do is grind up flaxseed and sprinkle it on anything including sandwiches and breakfast goods, even yogurt. |

| Super Food # 6 – Oranges |

Oranges have lots of pectin which is a cholesterol fighting fiber. It also contains potassium. If you need to control your blood pressure, you need potassium. The results are not in yet, but some studies seem to be demonstrating that oranges provide better blood vessel function. |
